I’m a food addict—and that’s why I get the struggle

I’ve long considered myself a bit of a “foodie.” I love trying new foods, playing with flavors, and learning how different cultures eat (Mexican is my weak spot—even the fast-food version).

But here’s the point: loving food doesn’t disqualify you from improving your health—it’s usually the exact reason change feels hard. If you’re a mature adult who’s ever felt like you’re “good” until stress hits, routines break, or cravings take over, you’re not alone. My approach as a health coach is to help you find where you are right now, get clear on where you want to go, and take realistic steps to define your goals and help you reach them.

Food: A Key Chapter in My Life's Narrative

I spent years tweaking my mom’s tater tot casserole recipe until I landed on a version I loved—and then kept tinkering with it until we eventually stopped eating that way.

Chili is another one—every family has “their” chili. I put way too much effort into perfecting ours, and my parents probably wouldn’t recognize the most recent version. The one rule I won’t break: no chocolate. Maybe it’s a Midwest thing, but I’ve seen plenty of pride and friendly competition around chili here in Montana too.

The Philosophy Behind My Coaching Approach

After sharing that, you might be asking yourself, “Why would I consider a food addict as a health coach?” That’s a fair question—and I’ll answer it with one of my own: why wouldn’t you?

Do you want someone who hasn’t struggled—or someone who understands what it’s like? Do you want advice from someone who only looks the part on the outside, or support from someone on a similar journey—someone who can meet you where you are, help you define where you want to go, and walk with you as you find your way?

Do I have all of the answers? No. But my struggles can help guide you. And the network we’ve built over the past few years connects us with people who may have the answers you’re looking for. We’ve also spent a lot of time learning the science of the human body—reading, studying, and staying curious—because you deserve guidance that’s both practical and grounded.

Your Next Step Awaits

I’ve struggled too. If you’re a mature adult who’s ready to start (or restart) your health journey, I can help you find your next small, doable step—without the all-or-nothing mindset. If that sounds like what you need, reach out and tell me what you’re working on right now, and what you’d like to feel six months from today. Our goal is to be like the North Star—steady guidance to help you find your way.
